Postnatal contraception is an essential component of postnatal care, supporting optimal birth spacing and reducing the risk of unintended or closely spaced pregnancies, which are associated with poorer maternal and neonatal outcomes. Providing timely counselling and access to contraception after birth enables individuals to make informed reproductive choices and supports the planning of healthier pregnancies.
