Read about the professional links GPCPC has made with other organisations working in the field of perinatal care:

Maternal Mental Health Alliance (MMHA)

GPCPC became a member of the MMHA in February 2023. Member organisations of the MMHA work together to create tools and opportunities to raise awareness of perinatal mental health (PMH) problems and help drive much-needed change to ensure the mental health needs of women and their families in the perinatal period are met.

This partnership is really important as it provides GPCPC the opportunity to regularly engage, interact and collaborate with PMH organisations across the UK. GPCPC will be working with the MMHA to produce educational events and content around PMH and Dr V Silverwood will attend regular MMHA meetings as the GPCPC representative.

MASIC

The MASIC Foundation is the only multi-disciplinary UK charity to support women who have suffered severe injuries during childbirth known as OASI (Obstetric Anal Sphincter Injuries). The charity is run by injured women and healthcare professionals who are committed to better detection and prevention of injury during childbirth.

This partnership is really important as it strives to increase General Practice awareness of these injuries. GPCPC will be working with the MASIC Foundation to produce educational events and content around OASI.

One Voice

GPCPC has been a Partner of The Once Voice Collaboration since October 2024.  One Voice represents a partnership between key professional organisations, charities and groups representing the user voice in pregnancy, maternity, neonatal care, early perinatal and early years services. The primary purpose is to present a collaborative and, where possible, united voice on key issues to ensure clarity for politicians, national bodies, clinicians and parents.

GPCPC works with One Voice to contribute a GP perspective, and build partnerships with other organisations working towards shared aims.

Make Birth Better

GPCPC has been a Partner of Make Birth Better since October 2024.  Make Birth Better aim to create a world where people no longer suffer from perinatal trauma. They support parents and professionals impacted by perinatal trauma, offer training and actively campaign for a maternity system where everyone is given equitable and dignified care.

GPCPC is working with Make Birth Better to improve awareness of Perinatal Trauma amongst GPs and to set up an evaluation of a screening tool for perinatal trauma.
